The team that has been assembled by Caring Transitions were fantastic to work with.
This includes-The initial contact who walked the property with me, to the team sorting and photographing, to the team leader in charge of the actual delivery and execution of the sale.the auction items received plenty of views, and in almost all instances, sold for an excellent price.
I am glad we chose them.

Where do I begin? My Mom recently passed away and my family had to figure out what to do with all of the belongings my parents worked hard for over the 55 years of living in the same home I grew up in. As a person can imagine, stuff accumulates over this amount of time. We checked out a few companies to liquidate the belongings in the home. We ended up landing on Caring Transitions. Wendy was the orchestrator of the process. She gave us an estimate of the costs for emptying my parents house. During the entire process, we were not able to be at the house to babysit. Big mistake on our part. My wife made some drop in visits and on one occasion saw one of the workers loading items in their car. It makes me wonder how much stuff was taken without permission.
After the sale, we were given the amount brought in from the sale. $6,500 (estimated). Are you kidding me? There was probably 5k worth of power wood working equipment, tv's, Xbox, antique furniture, much much more. I can say, there was way more than $6,500 worth of property. To top it off, we had to pay for an extra dumpster that wasn't on the bid, on top of not getting a dime out of this ordeal, we had to pay an extra amount of almost $3,000. Caring transition made almost $10,000 and the family ZERO. Yes the house and detached garage was empty, I wonder how many items were taken and/or thrown away. My mother in law went to the sale and was upset about items selling for pennies on the dollar. The second day of the sale was supposed to be mark down day although there were bags of items going for pennies. There were even items, cigar boxes of money being sold for a few dollars. This is just an example.
Be cautious, I feel like we were taken advantage of because of our current situation with a loved one gone. I am still having an issue processing this. I do not see how 55 years of tools, appliance repair equipment, nice furniture, fishing gear, etc. would only bring this amount. I hope you can imagine the devastation and emotions involved.
My parents worked all of their life to have things they treasured and made them comfortable.
Use extreme caution if you hire this company and make sure you can be present.

Caring transitions is aptly named. They went to my deceased brothers storage unit, took loads of photos, and found some of his tax documents. Prompt, and very professional, I will have them go back to the unit again when I need anything from it.

Our parents had filled their Western New York home with books, photographs, countless pieces of artwork, glassware, sofas, recliners, and other heavy furniture. There were also numerous tools, a testament to Dad's love of fixing things, and bountiful clothing, a testament to Mom's regal style. For my parents, the house and its contents defined their hard work and dedication. But over time, it became too much for them. Over the years, we suggested moving into an apartment, offering relief from raking leaves in the fall, mowing grass in the summer, or plowing the driveway in the winter. But they couldn't bear to part with a half-a-century worth of memories. Dementia changed everything. Our parents now live outside the home they cherished, under the care of healthcare workers. And now we, their children, were left emptying the house and listing it for sale. Emotionally, we were unprepared to confront our childhood memories and sift through our parents' belongings, deciding what should be kept and sold. Thankfully, someone recommended Caring Transitions, which specializes in situations like this. Alison Potter, president of the Buffalo business, toured my parents' home. She told us to remove what we wanted to keep and leave the rest to her and her team. They spent more than a week removing garbage and debris. Then, they grouped items and sold them in lots during an online auction. By the end of the process, they turned the house back over to us, cleaned and ready for sale. Alison was a caring partner in this difficult decision. We highly recommend her and her company.

Make ready was tough. Execution was excellent. The only thing I would advise is to do your own electronics make ready (tv
, stereo, etc.).
